Welcome to my blog! I’m Clara Kathleen. If you’re here, there’s a pretty good chance you probably already know me. However, I’ll quickly introduce myself just in case! Originally from southeast Kansas, I’m a proud graduate of Kansas State University. At K-State, I studied agricultural economics, global food systems leadership, and entomology. I am passionate about food security and the agriculture industry. My dream job is to work in food and agricultural policy so that I can play my part in helping the world reach “zero hunger.”
To prepare for such a career, I moved across the pond to the United Kingdom for grad school right after I turned 23. While there, I worked to earn my MSc in Agricultural Economics from the University of Reading. After submitting my dissertation at the beginning of September 2021, I moved back home to Iola, Kansas.
I am now serving as the new Nutrition, Food and Health Extension Agent for the Southwind District of K-State Research and Extension. I am ecstatic to be able to do programming related to food security and child nutrition (two issues I am extremely passionate about) in the southeast Kansas communities which raised me! (And of course, nothing expressed on this blog is representative of the views of my new employer. All opinions written here are solely my own.)
In my free time, I love reading, cycling, and listening to podcasts! I’m also a huge fan of “The Office,” “New Girl,” “Friends,” and anything and everything about cats. You can often find me drinking a raspberry water from Sonic while spending time with my pets, or outside in the hammock reading a good book. (In 2021, I read 80 books!)
